Graffiti in Eden

Finding Peace through Sex, Love, and Infidelity

A Memoir in Two Voices

Graffiti in Eden is told through the lens of both Thomas and Josephine who color outside of the lines of tradition and offer unique perspectives on the changing dynamics of romantic relationships between men and women. The two lovers exchange their white picket fence worlds of matrimony for an illicit escape challenging every cherished assumption about love, family and sex. The decision of how to move forward envelops both families, forced to negotiate new realities amid the devastation of desire and shame, truth and responsibility. Unlike other memoirs of healing trauma and triumphing over adversity, this is a story about the messes we make ourselves. Graffiti in Eden deeply resonates with readers seeking a way out of their own shadows, many of whom may be confronted with their own fairy tale ideals, broken families, and struggle for forgiveness.

An incredible page-turner wakes you up to what’s truly important in an intimate relationship…Graffiti in Eden not only opens doors to understanding the larger issues in our relationships but, more importantly, Engel brilliantly shines light into the tiny corners of our heart to show us that, often, small things can make big differences.
I couldn’t put it down.

Graffiti In Eden is essentially a coming of age novel for an ostensibly successful woman looking for a renaissance and thinking to find it with a man, yet finds it instead within herself. One more of author Engel’s mini-contributions to the repair of an irreparable world.

As an older woman, I was encouraged to see the progression of womanhood and how the old limitations and past expectations were exceeded in this story. I was driven throughout the book by the question “What is the cost of desire?” The two voices presented an original and engaging writing style. Definitely a recommended read!
